What is Freeview HD Recorder, Freeview +, Freeview Plus and Freeview Playback?

This is a common question which has a very simple answer. Freeview HD Recorder, Freeview +, Freeview Plus and Freeview Playback are all pretty much the same thing. Whilst the technology behind each of the terms may differ ever so slightly, essentially they are all a method of receiving Freeview HD channels, viewing Freeview HD Channels and use a hard drive memory to enable tape-less recording of the full range of digital Freeview HD TV channels.

Freeview HD Receiver

A Freeview HD Receiver, also known as a Freeview HD Set-top-box is a piece of electrical equipment which as the ability to receive Freeview HD channels and convert them into a signal which your TV can display. Don't get mixed up and remember that a Freeview HD Receiver is the same as a Freeview HD set-top-box. When a Freeview HD Receiver is connected to a TV aerial, it gives you, the viewer, access to all the currently transmitting TV channles (at the time of writing this is 5 channels). A Freeview receiver typically connects to your TV via a either a scart lead or via a normal arial cable.
